Professor Laurence Hurst - Professor of Evolutionary Genetics at The Milner Centre, University of Bath, and Former President of the Genetics Society

 

It is an honour to welcome Professor Hurst, who will be discussing his ground-breaking research into human evolution, using computational and mathematical techniques to understand the way genes and genomes evolve. Laurence will also be inviting audience members to ask him questions in the Q and A session at the end of the event.

Dr Leona Merolla – Global Project Manager (prior Global Head of Toxicology), Syngenta

 

Dr Leona Merolla will be sharing her career journey in the applied life sciences, focussing on her research into developing alternatives to animal testing in the area of respiratory toxicology, and shedding some light into the comparison between science careers in academia and industry.

Dr Richard Isaacs - Consultant Anaesthetist at University Hospital Southampton

 

We are delighted to welcome Dr Richard Isaacs to Farnborough, who will be sharing highlights from his career in anaesthetics on a busy maternity ward. Richard was also part of a team of doctors who developed a groundbreaking epidural simulator, designed to train doctors to carry out the procedure and reduce the risk of harm to patients.

Dr Victoria Grammatopoulou - Associate Specialist in ENT (Consultant Level), Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust

Dr Victoria Grammatopoulou will be sharing her career pathway in what promises to be a fascinating discussion about her areas of expertise, rhinology and facial plastics, and we are thrilled that she is able to join our KYTOS Programme. Victoria is a faculty member of the Sinus and Skull Base Dissection Course, Guildford, and faculty member of the International Rhinology Course, Greece. She is also an active member of ERS, BRS and EAFPS.

Jahan Pusey - Former biology student of The Sixth Form College, Farnborough​

We are thrilled that our recent alumna Jahan can join us on Wednesday 12th November to share her experience of being a biology stuident at the college, and to offer advice and support for those currently studying the course. Jahan did not take other supporting STEM subjects alongside biology, which brings with it, its own inherent challenges - which Jahan rose to, ultimately achieving a fantastic grade in the final exams. For students in a similar position, this talk is one not to be missed.
