A very special KYTOS Guest Speaker - Professor Robert Winston joins Tormead

On Thursday 18 May, Tormead School were honoured to welcome Professor Robert Winston for a very special evening talk. Professor Winston is Chairman of the Genesis Research Trust – a charity which has raised over £13 million to fund high quality research into women’s health and babies. His talk focused on the field of Embryology, explaining how early human development shapes every aspect of adult life. The importance of Science in education was emphasised, as he took a wide range of questions from the audience following on from his presentation. A trip to the Hunterian Museum, London

On Wednesday the 3rd of May, 30 girls, between year 7 and 10, left school at lunch and traveled by coach to the Hunterian Museum in London. It took just over an hour to arrive there and we were all really excited. The Hunterian Museum is located in the Royal College of Surgeons and was an incredible place to visit. As you entered, there were hundreds of specimen exhibits on display, with a detailed description lying underneath. There were lots of different animal and human specimens throughout the museum.
